Three Rabbits Charm-1879
$ 16.00
Sterling Silver Three Rabbits Charm depicts three rabbits running around in an endless circle. Is it a warning against sin? Or a sign of good fortunes to come? Or simply an optical illusion?
The three hares motif is definitely a mystery. No one knows for certain where it originated, but earliest known occurrences are in cave temples in China, and seemed to have spread along the Silk Road, making appearances on Mongol metalwork, Persian coins, ancient reliquaries in Southern Russia, and on many distinguished locations in churches and synagogues from Devon to the Ashkenaz region in Germany.
It's also presented to many simply as a puzzle. An ancient German riddle summarizes it thus: three hares sharing three ears, yet every one of them has two.
Length includes a 5mm soldered jump ring.
